Volume Sprays: Oribe v Charles Worthington

20140114-215207.jpg

I have very fine flat hair so am always on the lookout for products to add volume and texture to my hair.

The first volumising spray I tried was the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. I was very intrigued, and had very high expectations for this after hearing so many beauty bloggers rave about it and I have to say, it definitely met my expectations.

This spray really is magical. I have no idea how it works but it feels like you’re pumping air into your hair when you spray this. It really lifts and adds lots and lots of volume. This product feels very luxurious, has a lovely scent, and gives your hair a very soft and fluffy texture. It makes your hair feel weightless, like there’s nothing in it and the volume lasts a really, really long time too. I absolutely love this product and would love to have endless supplies of it, however it is very pricey!

This is the reason why I decided to try out a cheaper alternative, and bought the Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Texturising Spray. This spray isn’t quite the same as the Oribe spray and gives a different kind of look, but I really love this spray too. It adds a lot of volume to my hair which lasts for hours, just like the Oribe, but it gives a different type of texture and feels very different in my hair. It gives more of a gritty, texturised look and feels slightly hard and crispy in your hair, but I don’t mind this when I’m going for a messier, backcombed look.

I would use the Oribe on both freshly washed hair to add volume and texture, and on greasy hair as a dry shampoo, however I wouldn’t with the Charles Worthington spray as I think it’s less of a dry shampoo and more of a gritty, texturising spray. I think both these sprays are great to have in your collection as they both are very different. I would save the more luxurious Oribe spray for special occasions or when going for more sophisticated, softer styles but think the Charles Worthington spray is great for everyday use to add volume and texture to your hair.

Have you tried either of these sprays? What did you think?

Product review: Chanel Vitalumière Aqua

Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Foundation in 50 Beige

Before getting into blogging I would always use MAC studio fix fluid foundation. Once I started watching YouTube and reading beauty blogs, I was introduced to, and have tried so many more different foundations.

Chanel Vitalumière Aqua was a foundation I’d wanted to try for a really long time after hearing so many beauty bloggers rave about it, but as it is so pricey, I couldn’t bring myself round to actually buying it…..until now!

I’ve used this foundation for a few weeks now and I love it! It’s very light and gentle, almost like water. I would say it’s more like a tinted moisturiser than foundation as it gives a very light coverage and feels very soft and gentle on the skin. It really doesn’t feel like you’re wearing any foundation at all, and makes my skin feel much softer and smoother.

It also has a very dewy finish and makes my skin look so much more radiant and glowing. It definitely makes my complexion look much brighter and healthier.

This is now my favourite foundation and I will definitely be repurchasing it again and again. It’s a perfect everyday foundation as it looks very natural, like I’ve got no makeup on, but evens out my skin tone and any imperfections in my skin.

This has been my first Chanel makeup purchase and I really want to try more products from the brand. It is such a luxurious, high quality product, I’ve definitely been bitten by the Chanel bug!

I have decided to giveaway a few of my favourite drugstore products. The first of these is the Maybelline Color Tattoo in ‘On and On Bronze.’ I absolutely love this eyeshadow, it is a beautiful metallic bronze colour which would suit most skin-tones and is a great base product for eyeshadows or can be used on it’s own which is what I usually do.

Next are Revlon ColorBurst lip butters in ‘Berry Smoothie,’ (my favourite shade which I wear almost every day) and ‘Lollipop.’ These are my favourite drugstore lip products which I wear day-to-day and I love these shades.

This giveaway is going to be UK only and will be a Rafflecopter giveaway

Click on the link above to enter. You will need to follow my blog via bloglovin to enter as well as provide an e-mail address so that I can contact the winner at the end of the giveaway. New In: NARS eyeliner in Via De’ Martelli (Chocolate Brown)

Although I have spent hours and hours at my nearest NARS counter over the years swatching the beautiful blushes and lipsticks, I have only just bought my first ever NARS product.

I bought a Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Via De’ Martelli from the new Fall 2013 Color Collection.

I usually wear black eyeliner daily but this can look quite harsh so I wanted to tone it down and wear a dark brown liner instead. This eyeliner is a deep dark-brown chocolate colour. I love the colour, it is great for adding definition to they eyes but is a lot more subtle than black.

The eyeliner is very soft and easy to apply yet also very long-lasting. I wear it in the waterline and it lasts all day without smudging which is a first for me as I usually always end up with panda eyes from where my usual black liner has smudged. I also love that this eyeliner twists up, and there is a small built in sharpener on the end for when you want more precise lines.

Although this eyeliner is a lot more pricey than my usual drugstore eyeliners (£19.00!), I can definitely notice the difference in the quality of the product.

My first ever NARS purchase has been very successful, and I have already added several more products to my wishlist!

What do you guys think of NARS products? What was your first ever NARS purchase?

Cult Beauty Buy #1: MAC Russian Red Lipstick

As I have a huge, ever-increasing wishlist of cult beauty products I want to try, thought I would do a new series of posts dedicated to these (not that it’s an excuse to buy them all!) These are all going to be products I’ve heard beauty bloggers rave about, some old, some more recent.

http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/shaded/168/310/Products/Lips/Lipstick/Lipstick/index.tmpl?cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-ShoppingFeed-_-Lips-_-Lipstick&77tadunit=fcb8c5d7&77tadvert=10422251319&77tkeyword=&77tentry=prod_listing_PPC

Finally got my hands on this infamous red lipstick I had wanted forever, MAC Russian Red.

It’s described as a deep blue-toned red that suits all skin tones.

It’s a very very pigmented beautiful deep red colour which I really think would suit most skin-tones. It has a matt texture but is not drying at all.

I am a newbie to red lipstick and don’t have the most amazing make-up skills but have no problems with this lipstick, it’s so easy to apply and instantly makes you feel chic and sophisticated.

I absolutely love this lipstick! It has now become my all time favourite lipstick. Would recommend to everyone, especially beginners wanting to try wearing red for the first time . Love it!

Do you guys have MAC’s Russian Red? What do you think?

Space NK Haul!

Space NK PAckagingSpace NK Products

Made my first ever Space NK purchase a few weeks ago. Originally only wanted to buy a couple of products but as there was free delivery on orders over £60, I ended up adding an extra product I had been wanting to try for a while (the Caudalie Beauty Elixir).

The products I bought were the Emma Hardie Natural Lift Moringa Cleansing Balm, Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray and the Caudalie Beauty Elixir I’m not going to do full, in-depth reviews on these, as there are lots already out there and I don’t really have anything new to say, but I love them all and am pretty sure I’ll be repurchasing all of them when they run out.

The website was easy to use, my order arrived on time and was beautifully packaged (I chose to have it gift wrapped even though it was only for myself!). I also decided to become a member of the N.Dulge rewards scheme (more details here) so can see myself making many more purchases in the future.

Have you ordered from the Space NK website before? What did you think?
